Sujata is a poet, author and academic who is known for her deep understanding of feminism, social concerns and the far-reaching impact of the use of inappropriate language as a tool of suppression. From the first community feminist movement to her feminist blog Chokher Bali, her concerns are reflected in her writing. She has received awards and accolades for her poetry anthology Antim Maun ke Beech.  Her book on feminism, Stri Nirmiti and her novel Ek Bata Do is currently gaining a lot of popularity. She has been teaching at Delhi University for the last decade.
